    Leaving

Irish Faulty Towers. Ceiling of room collapsed in night and no-one was available to assist. Add the removal of tv remote by staff (they wanted it for another guest!), not the best experience.

    Good

nothing really it was old in the city though

it had a smell not to bad though probably because it was old

    Fabulous

Room was clean and warm, shower and TV worked properly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Service was prompt.

Decor dated, hotel parking limited, stairs very steep. Light over 1 bed did not work. This is an older hotel so it is difficult to bring it to the standard of a moden hotel but we felt this should be reflected in the price. The hotel could make better use of their great location and history in the area and improve bar and restaurant facilities to bring more local customers to the hotel and to encourage residents to use those facilities more. Breadfast was ordinary enough, could have been more "gourmet" with much better choices. Local cafe offered a better breakfast for less. Hotel bar closed at 11pm, you could only get bottled drinks from night porter. Felt overall we were paying a lot for the room and for breakfast (which was extra).

    Superb

The woman I dealt with was extremely friendly took time to chat which makes a great difference. It was also great to be able to smoke in you room There are many smokers out there and it's getting harder and harder for us to find hotels that permit it. It defeats the purpose of having a break if you are forced into cold turkey while you are there. Excellent location very comfortable beds. Couldn't work the shower though so had to have a bath which turned out to be nice anyway

I decided against the breakfast as I think 10 euro is far too expensive. The price of the room was slightly high I think though the location was excellent for my purposes. I would certainly stay again and recommend it though if I was staying longer I would try to find a cheaper place

The staff were very friendly, informative, accomodating, and helpful.

There was virtually no water pressure in my shower so I couldn't bathe. The bed was not comfortable. My breakfast was delivered 30 seconds after I ordered it so it had already been cooked- the fried egg was hard as a rock. The beer in the hotel bar was flat. The advertised wireless internet access in the lobby / bar is actually poached from neighbouring businesses. After I checked into my room and I was sleeping I was awakened and forced to move to another room.

    Very near to town,friendly staff.

The Ashley needs to be totally refurbished,i would imagine it was lovely in it's day(40 years ago)The smell of damp was overpowering.

    Superb

good friendly welcome, clean warm room

the only fault was the hot water in shower/sink- took long time for it to come through

    Location only

The hotel is very old and dated. There was a strange smell in the hallways and lobby.

  • 5.4
    Guest rating

It was near the city center

The room was cold and had no heating, the bed was uncomfortable, the door of the room didn't lock, it was way overpriced for what it was. It sorted looked like a refuge for the homeless.

    Very good

    Location and price

Very limited parking only about 8 cars.

    Superb

    Landlady was excellent.

Bit run down and didn't like that you had to hand in your key everytime you left. Also didn't like that you had to knock to get back into the building after 11pm.

I loved the location of the Ashley

I didn't like anything about the Ashley,it should be called a b&b not a hotel! I could go on but I wont :)

  • 7.8
    Fabulous

Central location. Staff friendly. It's a Guest House that likes to think it is a Hotel!

On my booking form, there is a section which states: 'Any special wishes'? I wrote: no smoking room please. When I checked in, I was given a Smoking Room. The next day, the hotel gave me another non smoking room, as I had requested.
